Let’s get it working again.

Broken screen, flickering, lines or no picture.

If the image is damaged or the lid has become loose, note any recent impact, pressure, or change in hinge resistance. Do not keep opening a hinge that catches. At drop-off, describe whether the computer still starts and whether an external display shows an image; those details help direct the initial inspection.

A hinge can remain intact while the plastic or metal mounts around it fail. The panel, display cable, lid cover and palmrest are checked together. The quote identifies which assembly needs replacement.

Battery wear, charging ports and computers that will not turn on.

If the Mac or PC shows no startup response, note the adapter, charge indicator, fan, keyboard lights, and any sound. Bring the charger if it is part of the problem. For liquid exposure, smoke, or an unusual electrical smell, disconnect it and tell the office before drop-off; do not try repeated starts.

No startup image is not the same as an operating-system fault. The initial checks separate power delivery, startup hardware, firmware and storage. Any proposed reinstall or data-erasing step requires separate approval.

Keys, trackpads, hinges, cases, USB ports and connectors.

Board faults, corrosion, damaged circuits and liquid spills.

Overheating, noisy fans, SSD upgrades, memory and slow computers.

For heat or fan concerns, note whether the problem appears at idle or only under load, whether a vent is blocked, and whether the computer has shut down unexpectedly. Avoid using it on soft bedding or fabric. The office can inspect the reported symptoms and explain the proposed work before approval.

Gaming laptops may have separate CPU and GPU cooling paths, shared heat pipes or a vapour chamber. Fan operation, airflow, heatsink contact and the reported workload all matter; a louder fan alone does not identify the failed part.

Startup errors, updates, malware, drivers and network problems.

Describe the exact error and the last successful startup. We separate user-account, storage, update and application faults before proposing a repair. Existing data is preserved where possible; wiping a drive is a separate decision, never an automatic first step.
